Linear → Slack Urgent Bug Notifier
Linear → Slack Urgent Bug Notifier
Couldn't load pickup availability
This automation alerts your team in Slack the moment an urgent bug is created in Linear. It listens to issue events, filters out noise, normalizes the message, and posts a channel alert so engineers can swarm high-impact problems immediately. A manual test path with mock data is included so you can validate the flow before switching on the live trigger.
How it works
-
Trigger paths: Linear webhook trigger (disabled in the template) plus a Manual Trigger for safe testing.
-
Mock payload: A Code node outputs a realistic Linear issue object for dry runs.
-
Qualification filter: Keeps only items labeled “bug” with priority ≥ 3 to avoid channel spam.
-
Message shaping: Transforms the title to Title Case and includes the issue URL for quick navigation.
-
Slack notification: Posts a formatted alert to your chosen channel.
Business value
-
Time saved: Removes manual triage and ad-hoc pings; alerts fire automatically.
-
Fewer errors: Deterministic filters and a test path reduce false alarms.
-
Scales cleanly: Works for any team size; adjust the priority threshold or add more labels as your process matures.
-
Operational clarity: Everyone sees the same high-signal alert at the same time.
Why this price?
For most small-to-medium teams, the automation replaces 15–30 minutes of manual routing per urgent bug and improves time-to-awareness. Even with a few incidents per month, the labor savings and reduced coordination overhead justify a sub-$300 price point while keeping it accessible for teams adopting basic alerting. This build includes event gating, message normalization, and a safe testing path that reduces setup risk and ongoing maintenance.
